The Dudley Community Partnership (DCP) submitted Dudley's fourth and final Next Generation Local Area Agreement (NGLAA) to Government Office (23rd May 2008). This new three-year Local Area Agreement complies with new Government guidance and replaces Dudley's former LAA 2007/08.
This Next Generation Local Area Agreement 2008-2011 seeks to highlight what needs to be done in the next three years to improve residents’ quality life. It focuses primarily on improved performance that is required throughout a range of our partners' services and sets some challenging improvement targets.
The NGLAA draws on a range of evidence, which sets out the state of our local economy, our residents’ health and aspirations, our environment and our communities. This evidence was used by Dudley Community Partnership board members and their organisations to develop a vision for the NGLAA over the next three years, against which progress can be measured, as follows:
"A borough with a vibrant and sustainable economy, where all neighbourhoods and communities benefit from the prosperity that results and where inequalities are reduced
This vision is not intended to replace the much broader vision of the Community Strategy ‘the promotion of stronger communities throughout the borough’ but rather intended to support it by recognising that a strong economy, as outlined within the Community Strategy is one of the key ingredients necessary to deliver stronger communities.
The NGLAA has 17 objectives which are grouped in to 4 main focus areas. 28 National Indicators have been chosen to measure progress over the 3 years, which will be monitored by Government Office. The targets set against these indicators are recognised as being challenging and which will make a real difference to the quality of life for people in Dudley. Additonal measures are also being developed so we can track progress locally and ensure that local priorities are being met.
Delivery Plans for each of the outcomes are being developed by Task and Finish Groups, which are mainly exisiting sub groups of the DCP's thematic partnerships. The draft delivery plans have been subject to a Peer Review Process where people involved have had the opportunity to assess the delivery plans produced by other groups. Negotiations are now taking place to make changes to delivery plans and to report their content and peer review feedback to the host Theme Partnerships and the DCP Board.
