PCSO's - Police Community Support Officers
PCSOs are Police Authority-employed staff who can perform a high visibility, patrolling role providing reassurance to the communities they serve. They aim to complement the work of police office.
Method of assessing progress against an agreed objective/aim.
Systematic process of monitoring the result of activities collecting and analysing performance information to track progress towards planning results using performance information to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
Primary Care Trusts (PCTs)
Many services in the National Health Service in the United Kingdom are provided by NHS Trusts. There are 2 major types of Trusts: Primary Care Trusts and Hospital Trusts.
The private sector of a nation's economy consists of those entities which are not controlled by the state - i.e., a variety of entities such as private firms and companies, corporations, private banks, non-governmental organizations, etc.
Comprises the sub-sectors of general government (mainly central, state and local government units together with social security funds imposed and controlled by those units) as well as public corporations, ie corporations that are subject to control by government units (usually defined by the government owning the majority of shares).
Public Service Agreements (PSA)
The policy mechanism to tackle deprivation through the bending of main departmental programmes such as police and health services to focus more specificity on the poorest areas. Government departments have minimum PSA targets to meet which means that , for the first time, they will be judged on the areas where they are doing worst and not just on average.
